Build a process-focused, ship-shape operation. Own the P&L and company finances/accounting. Manage and motivate a team of employees across all business areas.

Specific Responsibilities

* Execute on strategy. Implement the company strategy of becoming an infinitely scalable, highly automated online retailer of niche community-driven merchandise categories (run and scale the operation, take P&L responsibility, maximize profitability).
* Manage all functional areas (merchandising, vendor management, marketing, operations, fulfillment, customer care, technology infrastructure) with the goal of ensuring that each is doing business better today than it did yesterday.
* Manage all staff areas (finance, accounting, HR), ensuring that controls and reporting are in place and that each area is lean, mean, and accountable.
* Manage our people, ensuring the right people are in the right jobs. Promote our culture, manage headcount and resources, hold people accountable, and manage incentives and reviews.
* Document and improve all processes, extending process management throughout the business and completing the current company operating manual.

Our ideal GM is:

* Massively process-oriented. Obsessed with the power of systems, optimization, and scalability. Focused on process documents and measurement metrics before undertaking tasks. Familiar with (if not a devoted disciple of) the Toyota Production System. Evangelical about continual process improvement.
* A great manager. Good at hiring and developing people. Able to maximize a team\'s potential and inspire them through energetic example.
* Resourceful and entrepreneurial, viewing scarce resources as a challenge. Able to survive 40 days in the wilderness with a match.
* Inherently curious, tech-savvy, and a good learner. Has a demonstrated history of rapid learning and implementing technological solutions to problems.
* Organized and focused on the details. Always on top of financials and metrics.
* Fully accountable. Motivated to make his or her mark and proactively set his or her agenda. Never uses the excuse \"no one told me I had to do that\". The buck will stop with you.
* Web 2.0-minded. Believes that we should support the customer and that our customer community knows more than we do.
* Analytical. Makes decisions based on data-driven analysis and ROI calculations.

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or CPA from top university preferred.
* Minimum 3 years experience line management with direct role in hiring/firing.
* Experience in operations, process analysis, finance/accounting/P&L, and management mandatory.
* Expertise in catalog retail, software, or online retail a plus.

Compensation

The selected candidate will receive an attractive compensation package commensurate with experience, including a base salary, regular target cash bonuses, and profit sharing.
